Vacuum Pump Mechanic:


This position requires performing the re-manufacturing, repair, maintenance, and testing of multiple brands of rotary vane mechanical pumps (Edwards, Leybold, Alcatel, Stokes, Welch). This position will require the candidate to possess strong problem solving skills, troubleshooting abilities, good mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of electrical components. This candidate must also have sharp observational skills, the ability to follow established procedures, and an initiative to learn multiple techniques. Training will be provided for specific products. The mechanic will be required to have basic knowledge of safety and the proper operation of machinery and tools. Some other duties will be operating a forklift, constructing wooden crates, some lifting required, computer operation, data entry, inventory management, completing shipping documents, searching the internet for technical information, and assisting customers with technical questions over the phone when necessary. The person hired for this position will work closely with management to accomplish daily objectives.

 

Mechanic Experience:

 

       The re-manufacturing of rotary vane mechanical pumps, blowers, and other vacuum and research equipment is required.  The duties include: dismantling, inspecting internal parts, installing rebuild kits using wrenches and mechanic tools, assembling, and testing all units. Mechanic will also prepare each pump for shipping by labeling each unit and attaching the document test results. Some other minor repairs may include: electronic repair by soldering and replacement of small electrical components, testing new inventory, and troubleshooting. A good candidate will know how to safely use and operate hands-on power tools and should have experience driving a forklift in a warehouse environment. Candidate should be able to draw and record detailed measurements of objects. The measurements will be used during the construction of custom wooden shipping crates. Accurate and precise work is a requirement.  There will be shipping and handling duties of UPS and FedEx packages as well as heavy motor freight shipments. 

 

 

Qualities/ Requirements:

 

       This person will need to have excellent organizational skills and like working in a small business environment.  A good candidate must be hardworking, eager, have an eye for details, ability to follow instructions, not afraid to get dirty, lift heavy objects, and work well with others.  Any candidate must have excellent written and oral skills, including a professional demeanor.  A candidate must have reliable transportation and be able to work full time M-F 8:00 am – 5:30 pm. Only applicants with work experience and qualifications that match these requirements will be considered for this position.

 

Full Time:

Starting pay ranges from $10.00 to $12.00 per hour during training period. Skilled vacuum pump mechanics earn $12.00 to $15.00 per hour with excellent opportunity for advancement. We will train candidates who have good potential to perform the skills listed above. Advancement is based on the ability, skill, and overall performance.
